Sejal Worah, 2008. Participatory Management of Forests and Protected Areas. A Trainer’s Manual, RECOFTC.
This manual contains a series of training activities with detailed instructions, handouts, facilitator notes, reference to the time and materials needed, and case studies to help design training courses on various aspects of participatory management of forests and protected areas. In particular, the guide focuses on issues concerning participatory situation analysis, negotiating for participatory management and strengthening and sustaining participatory management.
The training activities presented in this guide have been developed and successfully tested in the context of training courses conducted in Asia and Africa between 2002 and 2005 by various organisations including CARE and WWF. However, the authors clearly state that their effectiveness also depends on the experience and input of trainers themselves and suggested that the activities should be modified to suit different target audiences.
